The Noble Maritime Collection

The Noble Maritime Collection
The Noble Maritime Collection is a beautifually restored building onthe grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center. It does an amazing job of telling the histpry of Sailors Snug harbor, even preserving some of the dormitories where the sailors once lived in retirement. Beyond that, it includes changing exhibits of Staten Island's maritime history as well as the art of John A. Noble who lived nearby and did most of his work on a houseboat, which has been rebuilt inside the museum! The Collection includes scaled ships, artifacts from Sailors Snug Harbor, the ongoing restoration of Kate's Light, and so much more. The staff is wonderful and the volunteers are fascinating. A must-do, just a few minutes bus ride from the famous Staten Island Ferry.
