I have had the pleasure of visiting Sydney 4 times - and each time I find something new and wonderful. I have been there at different times of the year, but never has it been too cold or too rainy. Each time I've stayed it has been on or near Sydney Harbor - which is sort of a must visit. One side of the harbor is Circular Quay, which bustles with shops, and at the end is the historic, landmark Sydney Opera House (and that is even more spectacular in person). There is a great bar there, and the minute evening sets in, crowds flock for dinner and cocktails. Directly across is the city's historic section - The Rocks - which is home to historic buildings and another great neighborhood filled with shops and more restaurants. From the harbor you can easily see the Sydney Harbor Bridge, and Manly in the distance - which is home to an amusement park that lights up at night.Another section of the city I really like is Darling Harbor, which is home to many of the city's more touristy attractions but also more of the business areas.Food there is a really neat fusion of the anglo-European and the asian influences of Australia's geography.I have yet to visit Bondi Beach (an Aussie landmark beach with pre-historic cave paintings), and some of the other neighborhoods around the city. But I'm certainly going back: Sydney is enormous, and a worthwhile exploration for sure!
